Like most of my readers already know, I am semi new to running. I am pushing myself to run further and faster as the days go on and I am absolutely loving the way it helps to clear my mind. I read on a teeshirt somewhere that running is cheaper than therapy and let me tell you what, that sure is true!
What many don’t know about me is that I am a huge worrier. I worry about everything that may happen, probably wont happen and certainly will not happen. But hey, I still worry about things! One of the biggest worries I had with running was what happens if I am out somewhere and I get dehydrated and disoriented, or if I fall down and really hurt myself, what if I get hit by a car, or what if I get hit by a car then attacked by birds?! Okay, so chances are I wont get hit by a car and then attacked by killer birds, lets be realistic! But what happens if something does happen to me (hopefully nothing will happen, but it is better to plan ahead).
I realized when I first started taking my running outside I carried very little if anything on me. No form of ID. This concerned me. If something did happen, how would a friendly pedestrian or emergency response professionals identify me and get a hold of my family?
I recently came across the brand Go Sport ID. I actually found them because of their Twitter page. They make these really awesome ID’s that you can wear in case something does happen and someone does need to know who you are and who to call. But these are not your typical emergency identification bracelets, these are customizable, and I even dare to call them stylish bracelets (they also offer a necklace version)! Not only can you put your name and emergency contact information on your Go Sport ID you can also have a quote or words of encouragement engraved as well, to help keep you going when you look down at it on your next run or during your next tough hike.
After deciding I wanted to take the leap and purchase a Go Sport ID I found myself very torn over which style of bracelet to get. I knew I wanted one to wear on my wrist, so that took the necklace version, the victor (which looks similar to dog tags) out of the equation, I next ruled out the impact model (it is a really cool identification bracelet that incorporates magnetic therapy into the wrist band, this would be awesome for some, but personally I’m not into magnetic therapy). So I ruled two of the models out. Three to now choose between. Oh boy! This was a toughie! I honestly wanted to order all three, but my budget doesn’t allow me to do that at the moment! Though I wish it did! I next considered the Inspire version, which from what I see online seems to be a very popular version, it is double sided, that I really liked about it (so the Inspire is awesome and sometimes I wish I would have gotten it because of the double sided feature, but I didn’t like the shape of it quite as much as the others, although I do like the larger text). So it was now narrowed down to two models, the Fleet and the Glide. I looked at the Fleet next, this one is pretty awesome. It looks rugged, like I could wear it and climb a mountain and it would be just fine (although I don’t climb mountains, I’m actually quite scared of heights), for some reason the Fleet one looked awesome, even though I have wrists on the smaller side I thought it still looked awesome enough to wear all the time. But then I didn’t see an option to order additional bands so I could change out the color. That was a deal breaker for me. So I moved onto the Glide. Obviously, since there are no options left to choose from, I picked the Glide. I love the look of the Glide for every day life, I love the bands design, I love that you can buy an extra pack of the bands that come in multiple colors (you can also do this for the Inspire version). I love how petite this one looks on my wrist. Although I do wish the text were just a tad bit bigger. But it works, it looks stylish, you can read it just fine. The only reason I want the text bigger is to read my quote a bit easier while running and glancing down, then I think man that Inspire would have been perfect for those runs! But I also love the Glide that I picked!
As for my quote, or words of encouragement, I had a really hard time picking my quote to add to the ID. But when I was looking around on the Go Sport ID website and playing around with how my bracelet would look engraved (really awesome ordering system) I noticed a quote at the bottom that was perfect for me, that quote is “Inhale Confidence, Exhale Fear!”. This applies to me both in my running, knowing if I am confident I can indeed do even things I don’t think that I can. And if you paid attention to my obsessive worrying I talked about earlier, obviously that fear I hold onto needs exhaled out so I can keep on going also. So the quote works well for running and just with my anxiety in every day life. It was a perfect fit for me.
Now I have wrote this whole blog about how great Go Sport ID’s are for athletes, but keep in mind they would also be great as a bracelet to wear just for the everyday person, they are stylish enough to wear all the time, they would also be great for those with medical conditions to wear that list their information, I know these are quite stylish in comparison to some of the others out there on the market. I really believe there is a great deal of value in the peace of mind that a Go Sport ID can bring a person, regardless of whether or not they are an athlete.
Honestly I have nothing but positive things to say about Go Sport ID. I love my ID, I love the other ID’s that I do not have quite yet, the customer service is fantastic, the Go Sport ID Twitter account is active and responsive not to mention super awesome. The processing and shipping time was considerably faster than I had anticipated, even much faster than my estimated date given by the company, although I am sure this changes depending on how busy they are at the moment (guessing about that). The prices are reasonable (they vary depending on the model you want), the shipping is free, they even offer gift cards now available in $25 increments in case you want to buy one as a gift but not sure what the person would want engraved!
I just want to make it clear that this is an unbiased review. I was not asked to write it, I am not being paid to rave about the product, I am just a customer that is extremely happy with my Go Sport ID. I definitely plan on getting other models ( hello Inspire and Fleet, I will be seeing you sometime soon, I hope )in the future and I hope that some of my readers will take the leap and make an order to see for themselves how awesome these really are!
